Teach Yourself C++ in 24 Hours

SAMS Publishing, 1997
ISBN 0-672-31067-8 Jesse Liberty

Set the clock. Brew the caffeine. Turn on your telephone machine. Ready? Okay, focus. You've got 24 hours to become a C++ programmer.

Well, not exactly. Turns out that the catchy title is a cover for a book broken down into 24 bite-size lessons. You don't need prior knowledge of programming: despite the hyperactive name, this guide is relatively readable. Liberty catches your attention with a liberal (sorry, Ms. Liberty, no pun intended) use of boxes to highlight new terms, notes, and "do - don't" rules.

By the "Hour 24" chapter, you should be a "competent C++ programmer," promises the author, and advises trying online services, more advanced books, and magazines to become more advanced. A CD-ROM is included with the book.
