NETSURFER FOCUS ON COMPUTER AND NETWORK SECURITY

Updated October 21, 1998

Since the publication of the original issues of Netsurfer Focus on Computer and Network Security, the World Wide Web has truly taken off to become a mainstream medium. There has been tremendous development in both network security and in the Web itself. Existing technologies have evolved and new challenges and answers sprout like mushrooms after a rain. At the same time, the web matrix is constantly changing. Web sites and pages appear, disappear, and rearrange themselves.

In recognition of your interest and support we are updating our materials as follows.

  • Revised editions of the first two issues have now been issued. These documents are located at the original URLs.

    The revisions include the following.

    • Wherever possible, URLs that have disappeared or moved have been replaced.
URLs that cannot be replaced are left in the body of the text without a hotlink.

    • Hot links to new developments in a story are provided. Sometimes there is enough information to justify an update section. Links to these sections are also marked with an Updated tag.
    • The book sections have been updated to include links to Amazon.com. This allows access to reviews, reader comments, other relevant information, easy ordering, and pointers to similar books.

  • A new third issue of Netsurfer Focus on Computer and Network Security is in progress. In the meantime, here is an interim update issue on the topic.
